Over $8,000,000 Worth of Ethereum (ETH), Binance Coin (BNB), Tether (USDT) and DAI Stolen in Crypto Wallet Hack

After exploiting the Web3 crypto wallet BitKeep, hackers stole more than $8 million in Ethereum (ETH), Binance Coin (BNB), Tether (USDT), and Dai (DAI).

According to PeckShield, the bad actors stole approximately 4,373 BNB, 5.4 million USDT, 196,000 DAI, and 1,233.21 ETH.

On Sunday evening, BitKeep announced the hack on Telegram.

“Dear BitKeep users, preliminary investigation by the team has revealed that some APK [android package kit] package downloads have been hijacked by hackers and installed with code implanted by hackers. If your funds are stolen, the application you download or update may be an unofficial release version that has been hijacked.

Now, for the sake of user funds’ safety, if you downloaded the APK version, please transfer the funds to another official store’s wallet (App Store or Google Play). It is also advised to use the newly created wallet address. Hackers may gain access to the address you created with APK.

Tip: If conditions allow, please download and use BitKeep wallet from the official Apple or Google stores to ensure the safety of your assets!

If your wallet is stolen, please fill out the form as soon as possible; we will figure out a solution and assist you as soon as possible.”

In October, BitKeep was also hacked for approximately $1 million. Following the attack, the wallet company stated that it would fully reimburse all of its users.
