Justin Sun, founder of the cryptocurrency platform TRON, announced $1 million bounty in exchange of the Bitcoin thieves. Bitcoin thief hacked the Twitter accounts of prominent names such as Bill Gates, Elon Musk and Jeff Bezos. Overnight it was seen that their accounts were compromised with cryptocurrency related posts.
The act is also been regarded as one of the biggest heist on the micro-blogging site. According to some tweets, it is also said that over 5000 people fell for the scam and sent the hackers over $7.8M USD.
Justin Sun said that he is working closely with Twitter to resolve the matter. He told Cointelegraph that he is willing to pay $1 million to the person who finds out who was behind the hacking.
“We are working closely with Twitter to resolve this issue immediately and return our accounts to normal. We are always vigilant in the handling our accounts; operating safely and responsibly — taking the security of our accounts to the highest standards possible. This only further illuminates the urgent need for our society to adopt decentralized, trustless software and services.”
Twitter handles of Joe Biden, Kim Kardarshian and Kanye West, Barack Obama were also hacked on the similar grounds.
Twitter has, however, taken charge of the situation and asked the verified users to refrain from posting. It has also cleared the malicious tweets on the accounts but screenshots are still doing the rounds on internet.
In the wake of the situation, Twitter has also asked its users to change their passwords, with some verified users blocked from tweeting.
