The largest cryptocurrency exchange in the world announced on Friday that Binance has confirmed its involvement as an equity investor in Tesla CEO Elon Musk’s acquisition of Twitter.
“We aim to play a role in bringing social media and Web3 together in order to broaden the use and adoption of crypto and blockchain technology,” Zhao said.
Binance committed US$500 million to Musk’s US$44 billion buyout of Twitter, according to a regulatory filing from May.
A Binance representative stated, “Our initial commitment remains the same and we look forward to exploring opportunities to grow the partnership in the future,”
On Thursday, Musk took over as the company’s owner, and he immediately fired several key employees, including Parag Agrawal, the CEO, and Ned Segal, the head of finance.
