Blockstream CEO Adam Back has been reminded that Bitcoin was invented by a human, according to Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin.
Buterin revealed his values conflicts in a viral Twitter conversation.
Despite his love for decentralization and democracy, the programmer admits that he tends to agree with intellectual elites more than regular people on many policy matters.
Back, a fervent Bitcoin maximalist, responded by tweeting that he identified with “the plebs,” effectively dismissing the “master architect concept.”
Buterin was quick to remind Bitcoin users that the original money is also a social system created by humans. According to Buterin, the fact that supporters of the cryptocurrency believe Satoshi Nakamoto’s protocol is ideal demonstrates that they do not genuinely reject the master architect hypothesis.
This isn’t the first time Back and Buterin have had a Twitter spat. They are the driving forces behind the schism between Bitcoin maximalists and Ethereum supporters.
Back accused Buterin of misrepresenting the blockchain’s technology when he tweeted in 2019 that the infamous bioscam Theranos was “uncannily” Ethereum-like.
After the Blockstream CEO compared the second largest blockchain to a Bernie Madoff-style Ponzi scheme in 2020, the Ethereum co-founder accused him of propagating “tired old garbage.”
Back, who was mentioned in Satoshi Nakamoto’s white paper, is largely regarded as Bitcoin’s founder. He has, however, refuted the charges.
