Cash App Creator Dies Following Stabbing in San Francisco

Bob Lee, the former chief technical officer of Square and the founder of Cash App, passed away in the early hours of Tuesday, April 4, local time in San Francisco after being stabbed. Local time is the same as UTC. The tragic event ultimately led to his passing away.

Bill Barhydt, the Chief Executive Officer of the startup company Abra, which develops wallets for cryptocurrencies, tweeted on April 5 that Bob Lee “was assassinated in San Francisco early today.” He posted a piece from the local news source SFGATE from the day before, which reported on Lee’s passing but did not identify the individual who had passed away.

According to a post that was published by the San Francisco Police Department, officers went to a report of a stabbing at approximately 2:35 am local time on April 4 and located a “43-year-old adult male victim suffering from apparent stab wounds.” Also, the following information was included in the post:

“Officers promptly rendered assistance and phoned for medical personnel to arrive at the scene where the incident had place. The individual, who sustained injuries that were deemed to be potentially fatal, was sent to a hospital in the area for treatment. As a consequence of his wounds, the victim could not be saved by the first responders or the medical team, and he ultimately succumbed to his injuries and passed away.”
