FTX founder Sam Bankman-Fried Urges Court to Dismiss Charges

Sam Bankman-Fried, the creator of FTX and its former chief executive officer, is requesting that the court dismiss up to ten of the criminal accusations that have been brought against him. He is contending for some of the counts that there has been a failure to allege an offense.

According to documents that were submitted to the southern district court of New York on May 8, the legal team representing SBF has reportedly advocated for the dismissal of all counts in the case other than three counts of conspiracy to commit commodities fraud, conspiracy to commit securities fraud, and conspiracy to engage money laundering.

In response to the development, cryptographer, and researcher Molly White noted that “at least a part of it seems to come down to the fact that additional charges were added after SBF’s extradition agreement was made.”

This dismissal request will be heard on June 15 by U.S. District Judge Lewis Kaplan, and prosecutors have until May 29 to respond to the request. The guy himself has entered a not-guilty plea to the allegations that have been brought against him, despite the fact that the remainder of the inner circle of SBF has already pled guilty and agreed to assist with prosecutors.

Since December, SBF has been placed under house arrest at his parent’s residence in Paolo Alto. In the most recent turn of events, Judge Lewis Kaplan ruled that the tapping of SBF’s parents’ phones satisfies the bail conditions, despite the fact that SBF’s legal team asked for a change to this ruling.
