Enterprise team reviewing AI deployment dashboard in modern office

June, a startup founded by former Salesforce executives, emerged from stealth on Monday with $20 million in pre-seed funding to tackle one of the biggest hurdles in enterprise AI: getting AI tools to work reliably within complex legacy systems. The round was led by Marc Benioff’s Time Ventures, with participation from Michael Dell, Aaron Levie, and George Kurtz, among others.

Why AI deployment is so hard

Enterprises are eager to adopt AI, but integrating it with existing platforms like Salesforce, ServiceNow, and Workday remains a major challenge. Efrat Rapoport, June’s CEO and a former Salesforce executive, explains that the industry’s default response has been to hire more forward-deployed engineers (FDEs) — specialists who embed with clients to get AI systems running. However, she argues this approach is unsustainable and inefficient.

“AI, paradoxically, increases the demand for professional services,” Rapoport said. “The industry’s answer to AI implementation is, ‘let’s hire more and more and more people.’” June aims to change that by automating much of the integration work.

How June works

June’s platform scans a company’s existing systems to map business processes, identify bottlenecks, and then builds optimized, agent-powered workflows. It provides a step-by-step roadmap for implementation, including tasks like removing duplicate database fields or connecting to specific data sources. Users can then click “build” on each task, and June handles the heavy lifting automatically.

“We give you the full roadmap automatically of what needs to happen step by step for you to actually implement this agent successfully in an enterprise environment,” Rapoport said. “And then you click on ‘build’ on each task, and June starts building it for you in the organization.”

Real-world impact: CMG’s 100-agent goal

Paul Akinmade, chief strategy officer at CMG, a major U.S. mortgage lender, turned to June after struggling to integrate Claude Code with Salesforce. He had promised to have 100 agents running at Salesforce’s annual conference, but weeks of consulting with architects and FDEs had yielded little progress. June gave his team a clear view of where to deploy agents and allowed them to do so safely, even before the official kickoff call.

Akinmade was initially skeptical: “If your product requires FDEs, I don’t want your product. I’ve already done that and I’m getting annoyed by it. I don’t want a black box. I don’t want something only certain people can figure out. I want an easy-to-use tool.” June evidently cleared that bar.

Why this matters

As companies race to adopt AI, the gap between potential and practical implementation remains a significant barrier. June’s approach could reduce the need for expensive, hard-to-scale FDE teams, making AI deployment more accessible and cost-effective. It also addresses the “SaaSpocalypse” fear by positioning AI as a complement to existing enterprise software, not a replacement.

Conclusion

June’s emergence reflects a growing recognition that AI’s value depends on successful integration with legacy systems. With backing from prominent tech investors and a clear use case, the startup is poised to help enterprises overcome one of the most pressing challenges in AI adoption.
