Launched in 2023, ShibaPunkz.art allows users to stake NFTs from a collection of 10,000 unique Shiba Inu-themed NFTs. These NFTs are minted on Shibarium, Shiba Inu’s own Layer-2 scaling solution, designed to enhance transaction speed and reduce costs.
Initially, users who staked their ShibaPunkz NFTs were rewarded with SPUNK tokens, the native SRC-20 token of the DApp. The amount of SPUNK earned depended on the duration their NFTs remained staked.
However, things have gotten even more exciting! Lucie revealed a major upgrade to the staking DApp. Now, participants can earn from a pool of 85 million SHIB tokens and 2 LEASH tokens as staking rewards. This is a significant shift, offering rewards in more established and widely recognized tokens within the Shiba Inu ecosystem.

Despite these substantial numbers, the overall yearly burn rate in 2023 was slightly lower than in 2022, decreasing by 8.33%. In 2022, over 83 billion SHIB tokens were destroyed.
