Bored Ape Yacht Club is dethroned by Jay Chou’s PhantaBear NFT

On the OpenSea NFT marketplace, a new non-fungible token (NFT) collection promoted by Taiwanese superstar Jay Chou. Who has dethroned Bored Ape Yacht Club (BAYC), reflecting growing interest in celebrity-endorsed digital collectibles.

According to a corporate release, the PhantaBear NFT series, co-created by Jay Chou’s hipster brand PHANTACi. Then, sold out its 10,000 algorithmically-created NFTs on Jan. 1 within 40 minutes of their launch at 0.26 ETH (about US$1,000 at the time).

At the time of writing, the floor price was 5.88 ETH (US$18,344).

As of Tuesday morning, the NFTs’ trading volume had risen 462.66 percent from a week ago to 17,194.22 ETH (US$53.6 million). Thereby, outpacing BAYC’s 16,583.65 ETH (US$51.7 million) and Doodles’ 16,407.14 ETH (US$50.7 million), according to OpenSea Data.

“king of Mandopop,” wrote with an image of PhantaBear’s OpenSea ranking.
