Dogecoin (DOGE) One of the Worst Performers Among Large-Cap Coins So Far This Year – Here Are the Top Gainers

The broader crypto markets are off to a good start this year, but top meme coin Dogecoin (DOGE) has yet to make a significant move to the upside.

Lido DAO is one of the best performing large-cap altcoins this year (LDO).

The liquid staking protocol began 2023 at $0.959 and has since risen to $1.97 at the time of writing, representing a stunning 105% gain in less than two weeks.

This year has also been a banner year for smart contract platform Solana (SOL). The top Ethereum (ETH) competitor increased by more than 59%, from $10.15 on January 1st to $16.17 at the time of writing.

Cardano is another large-cap token that will make waves in 2023. (ADA). The smart contract protocol has risen from $0.249 at the start of the year to $0.327 today, a 31% increase in less than two weeks.

Litecoin (LTC), a peer-to-peer payment network, began 2023 at $70.06 and has since risen to $82.43 at the time of writing, representing a 17% increase so far this year.

Binance Coin (BNB), the utility token of crypto exchange Binance, has increased by more than 14% in less than two weeks, from $244.01 at the beginning of 2023 to its current value of $278.16.

Avalanche (AVAX), a smart contract protocol, is also gaining popularity. AVAX is off to a 13.84% start to the year, having risen from $10.98 to $12.50 at the time of writing.

Polkadot (DOT), an interoperable blockchain, is also printing gains under the radar, rising 12.59% from $4.37 on January 1st to $4.92 at the time of writing.

Polygon (MATIC), a blockchain scaling solution, is also making moves. MATIC bulls are flexing their muscles, pushing the altcoin from $0.768 on January 1st to $0.855 at the time of writing, representing an 11% increase.

Ethereum will not be left behind. Over the same time period, the leading smart contract protocol gained nearly 9%.

Dogecoin, the leading meme token, is trailing the pack, with gains of less than 8% so far this year.

Another large-cap coin laggard is payments network XRP, which has gained 0.29% year to date.

Meanwhile, the king cryptocurrency Bitcoin (BTC) has been relatively quiet recently, gaining slightly more than 3% in nine days.
