Drake’s First Bitcoin Formula One Bet

The musician revealed to his 110 million Instagram followers that he bet CA$300,000 ($234,000) in bitcoin on Ferrari’s best performing driver, Charles Leclerc, to win the 2022 Spanish Grand Prix. Drake’s first Formula One wager was placed on the crypto gambling platform Stake.

During the first half of the tournament, the 24-year-old racer had a comfortable lead and appeared to be on his way to a victory and a profit of roughly $350,000 in the primary cryptocurrency for the rapper.

The rising heat in Barcelona, however, produced major issues for Leclerc, whose engine failed on lap 27. Max Verstappen of Red Bull’s squad, who appeared to have chosen a better strategy and the suitable tires for the weather circumstances, grabbed the lead and won the Spanish Grand Prix.

It’s worth noting that Drake is a close friend of Lewis Hamilton, the seven-time world champion who finished fifth in the race. Despite their closeness, the rapper has remained tight-lipped about whether he has wagered crypto on him.
