The Gadchiroli district government is hoping that by implementing blockchain technology, it will be able to counteract false claims of benefits and incentives based on falsified caste certificates.
Starting Tuesday, the district began issuing certificates online and through its site to certify the veracity of papers stored on the Polygon blockchain.
In India, the caste system is a tight hierarchical hierarchy in which lower castes are frequently associated with poor and destitute societies.
The project is part of the “Digital India” effort, which aims to research on-chain e-governance and, if successful, will be scaled across Maharashtra.
