Indian startup Runable has secured $21 million in a Series A funding round to expand its AI agent’s capabilities beyond creating websites and apps, moving into customer acquisition and business growth. The round was co-led by Susquehanna Venture Capital and Nexus Venture Partners, with participation from existing investors Together Fund and Array VC, valuing the Bengaluru-based company at $65 million post-investment, as of October 2025.

From Building to Growing: Runable’s Strategic Pivot

Founded in 2025 by Umesh Kumar and Saksham Sarda, Runable initially operated as an AI infrastructure startup, developing browser technology to scrape data at scale. However, the founders observed a growing trend among users who were leveraging their browser-based agent for tasks like creating slide decks and websites. This insight prompted a strategic pivot toward a general-purpose AI agent.

This shift has proven commercially successful. The startup reported going from zero to a $2 million annualized revenue run rate within three weeks of launching payments in March. The company’s core offering now allows users to build websites, apps, and presentations using natural language prompts, while also managing underlying infrastructure like deployment and analytics.

Targeting the ‘Grow’ Side of Business

Runable’s new direction focuses on what co-founder and CEO Umesh Kumar calls the “grow” side of the business. The AI agent is being extended to run ad campaigns, manage social media, handle SEO, and optimize a business’s presence in AI chatbot results. The ultimate goal is to allow small business owners to ask Runable to acquire a specific number of customers, rather than separately configuring websites, analytics tools, and advertising accounts.

“In the end, a business doesn’t require Codex or Claude Code or anything. They require real outcomes,” Kumar told Bitcoin World. “If I am paying an agency $10,000 to run my Google Ads, can someone come in and do it for me for a lower price? That’s where Runable comes in.”

Market Position and Competitive Landscape

Runable is entering a crowded market that includes AI giants like Anthropic and OpenAI, as well as coding platforms such as Cursor, Lovable, and Replit. However, Kumar argues that Runable’s advantage lies in handling the complete workflow required to produce an outcome for a small business—including infrastructure, analytics, and distribution—without requiring users to stitch together multiple services.

The startup currently has approximately 1.7 million registered users, with the U.S., UK, and Japan among its largest markets. The company expects Japan to emerge alongside the U.S. as one of its top markets as soon as next month.

Financials and Growth Metrics

While Kumar declined to disclose Runable’s current revenue or number of paying customers, he stated that users consumed more than 1 trillion tokens over the last 90 days, with 60% to 70% of that usage coming from paying customers. The company currently operates with negative gross margins, partly due to subsidizing AI usage for its customers.

The startup is working with a mix of models, including developing its own, and expects falling inference costs to help improve its economics over time. “We are seeing this path where you can provide the same quality of inference at almost 10x less cost,” Kumar told Bitcoin World.

Testing Runable’s Capabilities

In a brief test, Bitcoin World asked Runable’s agent to build and deploy a website for a fictional coffee subscription business, set up analytics, and attract its first 100 visitors with an advertising budget of $25. Runable successfully built the site and prepared an ad campaign but stopped short of running it, stating that an advertising account needed to be connected first. A similar test on Cursor encountered comparable limitations.

Runable clarified that its ability to run ads without customers connecting their own advertising accounts is currently available for ads on ChatGPT, citing partnerships it declined to identify as a “soft wedge.”

Conclusion

Runable’s $21 million raise signals a growing trend in the AI agent space: moving beyond content creation to deliver tangible business outcomes. While the company faces significant competition and current economic challenges, its focus on non-technical small business owners and its rapid user growth suggest a viable niche. The startup’s success will depend on its ability to improve margins and demonstrate that its AI agent can genuinely drive customer acquisition, not just generate digital assets.
