Wassies NFT Prices Surge as Crypto Twitter Lore-Themed Hotel Opens in Singapore

The opening of a boutique hotel in Singapore with a theme based on a well-known Crypto Twitter character has caused a 20%+ increase in floor prices for the By Wassies non-fungible token (NFT) collection since the weekend.

The Hotel by Wassies is a popular “Wassie by Wassies” NFT collection-themed hotel featuring frog-themed rooms, accessories, a cafe, and other facilities located at 5 Hongkong Street in Singapore.

This is not an April Fool’s joke. A pop-up hotel called Hotel by Wassies is scheduled to open in March 2023 and remain open through September 2023.

The 55 rooms on the six floors of the hotel are divided into six “Wassies & Friends”-themed rooms with artwork created in collaboration with other projects, and 49 rooms decorated in purple hues in keeping with the Wassie theme.

According to its creators, the hotel is a means of increasing public awareness of the Wassie brand. As we continue to look for ways to deploy the byWassies brand IP in all shapes and forms, Hotel byWassies is a smol Wassie step in bringing crypto culture into the real world, according to a regional Twitter account of the Wassie collection.

As of Monday, the Wassie website lists a room at the hotel for $129 per night. Wassie NFT holders are eligible for discounts of up to 20% on accommodation reservations and 69% off beverages at the on-site cafe, Coffee byWassies.

The Wassie NFT collection’s floor pricing have increased 20% in the last two days, rising to 0.5 ether at the time of writing from 0.33 ether on Saturday. According to data from OpenSea, the Ethereum-based collection contains over 12,000 distinct NFTs with 2,3000 different holders. Wassies is a made-up comic that gained popularity thanks to the anonymous Crypto Twitter user inversebrah, who is known for chronicling memes, jokes, and terrible takes that mostly focus on the crypto community.
