For each South Korean medal at the Beijing Olympics, the exchange will deduct NFTs

Every time South Korea wins a medal at the Beijing Winter Olympics, Bithumb, one of South Korea’s major cryptocurrency exchanges, says it will deliver digital art non-fungible tokens (NFTs) to traders who match the criteria.

The NFTs, which will be held in collaboration with 300FIT, a blockchain-based sports content platform, will be open to traders who have traded more least 1 million Korean won (US$835) in FIT.

Starting at midnight the day after a Korean athlete wins a medal in the games. So, the NFT offerings will run for 24 hours.

Bithumb will distribute 10 normal digital art NFTs. Then, and one special digital art NFT of the winning South Korean Olympic medalist at random.

Sports has been a significant market for the mainstream adoption of cryptocurrencies. That’s, with total sales of sporting fan tokens exceeding those of NFTs, according to CryptoSlam data.

Bithumb stated that it will continue to work toward bringing digital assets and sports closer together.

South Korea has yet to win a medal at the Beijing Olympics, which will conclude on February 20.
