Seongnam City, South Korea, will provide citizenship privileges through NFTs

According to local media sources, Seongnam, the 12th most populous city in South Korea, intends to reconstruct the city in the metaverse and would provide non-fungible token (NFT) citizenships to grant access to municipal data.

The city hopes to launch operations in the metaverse in May or June of next year after finalizing its plans for the service by April 2023.

Citizens will have access to additional municipal data thanks to the NFT citizenships, which were granted to promote the metaverse city.

More information on the platform and the NFTs will be decided at a meeting in October, the Seongnam city council says.

Seoul, the nation’s capital, is likewise constructing a digital metropolis in the metaverse. Last month, it had a trial opening for its online presence.

Seongnam, which has a population of about a million, is a satellite city of Seoul, the nation’s capital.
